Good Words

As a leader at a church with a small staff and a BIG vision, the bulk of tasks, to-do lists with a crunch time, and pressing matters of ministry can tend to get a bit intense, stirring up anxiety and frustration.
In our passionate drive to fulfill the mission, and keep the vision we can easily burn ourselves out!
BUT I came across this verse today that gave me an “ah-ha!” moment.
Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, but a good word makes it glad.
Proverbs 12:25 NKJV
When our hearts hear a “good word” it does a miraculous thing! It makes us glad! …which staves off anxiety! And when your heart is glad, there is no room for depression!

7 Days of Love Challenge

by Judy Keech

VALENTINES DAY is fast approaching and husbands, that typically means the wife will start expecting YOU to make some romance happen…some chocolate, some flowers, a DATE!

Well I want to share with you a Valentine tradition my husband and I committed to for our marriage many years ago. We call it “7 Days of Love” (corny, I know!), but this is how it works…

Bible reading: 1 Corinthians 5:14-15

For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again. (II Corinthians 5:14-15 NKJV)

I used to build models as a kid.  I loved it!  The greatest endeavor that I attempted was putting together the “USS Constitution”.  It was approximately 3 feet long and 3 feet high and came in about one million pieces.  I did finish it but there was one thing that I had to have to accomplish this task…GLUE!

Sailors of old use to have a saying, “hold fast!”  These were days when the only thing holding a ship together as it sailed the seven seas was some rope and the will of the sailors aboard.  Especially during stormy seas the encouraging sound would be heard, “Hold FAST!”  Men would need to hold the ship and each other together to make it through the storm.

We as believers have a glue that puts us together and holds us fast through every storm of life and keeps us true to the course and purpose of God.  That glue that holds us fast is LOVE!  Agape love…unconditional and unfailing!

The word compel means “to hold together or to grip tightly”.

We are glued together by His love.  The love of Christ is holding you together now.  It is keeping you and your family together.  It is keeping the RockSong family together.

We are able to hold tightly to Him and each other because of this love.  We judge one another through Him and His love.  It is for this reason that we can live for Him and each other instead of ourselves.  We are compelled (held fast) to do so.  It is our new nature!

WE HAVE NO CHOICE but to live for Him.

There is NO plan B.

So let us live our lives out of this love that holds us fast to live for Him and live for one another!

Blessings RockSong, as you give praise and glory to God for Him and each other!
